  • 4 Valentine's Day Date Ideas...

    Every year around February 11th, the panic sets in, right? Valentine's Day right around the corner, getting the kids ready for their Valentine's Day parties at school, making sure teachers and coworkers and everyone has a cute little heart waiting for them. It's exhausting. You don't even have time to plan your own date! To take some of that stress off, we came up with 4 date ideas in the New Berlin area for you and your Valentine to enjoy! 1. Matty's Valentine's Day Special Matty's Bar & Grille is obviously one of our favorite New Berlin restaurants, and this was too good to pass up! A dinner for two. Each of you will have the choice of soup or salad, an entrée from our featured menu to include Chicken Marsala, Shrimp and Dill Caper Salmon or a Ribeye Steak and Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert, all for $85. Available Feb 12th-14th! 2. Valentine's Day Cream Puffs?! Head over to the Wisconsin State Fair Grounds February 11th - February 14th, 2022 and grab some delicious strawberry or cocoa cream puffs! Pre-order them on the Original Cream Puff website to make sure you don't miss out. 3. Catch a movie at Majestic Maybe the new romantic comedy, Marry Me? Or a classic, The Notebook? The Majestic really knows how to make us feel nostalgic, no better way to do that than watch The Notebook in theaters! (We hope they also provide tissues, because there will certainly be some tears while watching that one!) 4. Create a Scavenger Hunt! Do you and your Valentine know each other, AND New Berlin like the back of your hand? Create a scavenger hunt around the city...whoever loses buys the drinks at New Berlin Ale House!     2022 is upon us, and like everyone does, we made our 2022 resolutions! Get in shape, spend money thoughtfully, spend more time outdoors. The difference in this year and last year? We are determined to accomplish all of our resolutions this year! If we have any in common, keep reading! Here are the ways we are accomplishing all our resolutions, right in the city of New Berlin! 1. Get In Shape! Becoming a healthier version of yourself seems to always be on people's list, but so many people don't realize how many options there are (other than going to a boring gym!) Spend Money Thoughtfully This has been on our lists for a few years now. With big companies like Amazon (Same-day shipping is hard to compete with), it's easy to forget what's right outside your door! New Berlin has so many locally owned shops though, the options can give Amazon a run for their money. Twins Flower & Home Décor - 14170 W National Ave, New Berlin, WI 53151 - Some of the most beautiful flower arrangements come from Twins Flower. Poke around and you also might find the piece that will complete your mantle décor! Bee You Boutique - 16060 W National Ave, New Berlin, WI 53151 - By far some of the cutest sweaters I've seen this winter season are right in your backyard at Bee You Boutique. Go see what all the buzz is about! What's In The Bowl Pet Shop - 15401 W National Ave, New Berlin, WI 53151 - We had to include something for the furry friends in our lives! Anything your four-legged pal would need, you can find here. 3. Spend More Time Outdoors With work, school, sports and everything that goes on in our busy days, it's hard to remember to get outside for a bit and enjoy the fresh air. But getting out there in New Berlin is easier than some may think. It feels like every time you turn a corner here, there's a park to take a walk through. Malone Park - 16400 W Al Stigler Pkwy, New Berlin, WI 53151 - Recreational green space with wooded trails, an ice rink, playground & gazebo for live events! Valley View Park - 5051 S Sunny Slope Rd, New Berlin, WI 53151 - Archery range Baseball diamond, Basketball court, Disc golf course, Hiking Trail, Horseshoe court, Picnic shelter, Playground, Sled hill, Soccer field, Tables/Grills, Tennis Courts all across 75 acres of land. I think this one speaks for itself! Biwer Park - 3495 S Sandalwood Dr., New Berlin, WI 53151 - An ADA Accessible park, that also includes: Baseball diamond, Basketball court, Hiking Trail, Nature trail, Playground, and a Sand volleyball court! Our beautiful city provides so many opportunities to get out, and get involved. It's easy to overlook all of the things happening, hold yourself accountable in 2022 and get involved!   • New Berlin Area Fall Activities of 2021

    Autumn is here and that means New Berlin-area pumpkin patches, apple orchards and fall gatherings are getting ready for the seasonal festivities. Not only will you get a chance to pick out the perfect Halloween pumpkin, but many pumpkin patches offer complimentary activities like hayrides, corn mazes and games for the kids. It's best to call ahead to the field or check its website for coronavirus-related guidelines and hours of operation. 1. Go Pumpkin Picking or Enjoy a Hayride at a Local Farm Simon's Sunny Side Produce & Pumpkins- located at 600 S Racine CT in New Berlin, Simon's has new areas of entertainment and the renovated back garage has pedal tractors in on a concrete floor, instead of the hard to pedal gravel in previous years. There are new photo opportunities for the whole family around the farm, along with fresh produce, fall decorations and pumpkin picking. They are open 10-8pm Monday - Saturdays and 10am-6pm on Sundays. Cozy Nook Farm- offers a fall market with pumpkins, gourds, squash, and more. You can take a farm tour or reserve a hayride for a small group during the week at 3, 4 and 5pm. Reservations can be made at (262) 968-2573 and ask for Joan. Adults are $5 and children under 10 are $3 (note there is a minimum charge for a hayride is $35 so it is better to bring a small group). Lindner's Pumpkin Farm- located in New Berlin is a working farm with many animals that kids can see. Open daily from 10am til 6pm through October 31st. There is no admission fee and parking is free. Entrance to the petting zoo, Big Backyard playground and Corn Maze is $6.00 per person on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and $5.00 per person monday through Thursday. Pumpkin bowling is $2.00 and Pumpkin Express Barrel train is $2.00. Call (262)549-5364 to plan a visit. Emsile Farm- Emslie Farm in Waukesha is open from 10am -6pm Monday - Friday and 9am- 6pm Saturday & Sunday. Emslie has pumpkin picking, corn, winter squash mums and other fall decorations during the week. Bring the whole family on the weekend for the corn maze and farm animal display and hayrides on weekends starting at 1pm in October. 2. Experience the Wisconsin Fear Grounds WI Fear Grounds in Waukesha If you prefer a trick rather than a treat, you will want to buy your tickets for one of the haunted houses on the fear grounds! They are open Fridays and Saturdays in October from 7-11pm. 3. Play a Game of Golf within the Changing Colors of the Season Visit our Golf page to learn about all of the facilities located within New Berlin 4. Shop Your Way Through Autumn Discover a new boutique or event throughout the season by checking out or attending on of the listings below. Twins Flowers and Home Decor Bee You Boutique Fall Harvest Fest by Holy Apostles on Friday, October 8th Fall Harvest Art & Craft Fair at Ronald Reagan Elementary on Sat., October 16th Fall is in the Air Craft & Vendor Fair at New Berlin Ale House on Sat., Nov., 12th 5. Go Apple Picking Awes Apples Orchard- This orchard is smaller than the others, without the bells and whistles (or crowds). A family-owned business, their varieties include Honeycrisp, McIntosh, Gala, Gingergold, Zestar and Cortland. In the bakery you’ll find homemade apple pies, apple cider donuts, apple turnovers and caramel apples, plus apple cider by the pint and half gallon. Bring cash or checks, as they don’t accept credit. Westons’ Antique Apple Orchard- While you’re not able to pick-your-own apples from the antique trees, you can take your children on an orchard tour of this fascinating place, located adjacent to the New Berlin Historical Park. This family-owned orchard is owned by Ken Weston. The farm began in 1936 when his grandfather planted apples over 11 acres. They planted varieties that were prevalent in the 1930s but are now antiques. Some varieties go all the way back to 300 AD. According to Ken, some don’t even taste like apples. Patterson Orchards- Located in New Berlin, their Apple Orchard & Farm Market offers a variety of products. They do not offer pick your own, but they pick everything for you and sell in the Farm Market.
